Clad in traditional attire, the Chief Minister was seen offering prayers and participating in the Darshan and Aarti ceremony of Lord Vitthal. Speaking to the media, Fadnavis described the event as “deeply spiritual” and “a reaffirmation of Maharashtra’s rich cultural and devotional legacy.”

Meanwhile, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde performed the Maha Abhishek of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini at the Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Wadala, Mumbai. Shinde expressed his devotion, stating that participating in these rituals brought immense peace and energy, and he prayed for the well-being of all citizens of Maharashtra.

Ashadhi Ekadashi, considered one of the holiest days in the Hindu calendar, marks the culmination of the Wari pilgrimage, a centuries-old tradition where devotees (Warkaris) walk hundreds of kilometers to reach Pandharpur, chanting and dancing in devotion to Lord Vitthal. The day holds great spiritual significance and symbolizes unity, devotion, and perseverance.

This year’s celebrations saw heightened enthusiasm, especially with the presence of top political leaders who reinforced the cultural importance of the event. Stringent security and administrative arrangements were in place, ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of rituals at both Pandharpur and Wadala temples.

The participation of the state’s top leadership underlined the significance of religious festivals in promoting social harmony and unity among diverse communities. The government also reiterated its commitment to preserving and promoting Maharashtra’s spiritual traditions and ensuring continued support for the annual Wari.
