Silverstone, England – Lando Norris delivered a stunning home victory at the British Grand Prix in a wet-to-dry thriller, leading a McLaren one-two ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri. In a dramatic twist, Kick Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg stole the spotlight with a remarkable drive from 19th on the grid to secure his first-ever Formula 1 podium.
The race began under dry skies with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen maintaining his lead from pole, but the complexion changed quickly as rain arrived at Silverstone. Piastri surged past Verstappen, and McLaren soon took control at the front.
The changing conditions and multiple Safety Car periods kept the drama alive. A key moment came when Piastri was handed a 10-second penalty for excessively slowing the pack under the Safety Car, which he served during a pit stop. That allowed Norris to retake the lead, where he stayed until the checkered flag, finishing 6.812 seconds ahead of the Australian.
Hulkenberg’s Redemption
Nico Hulkenberg, starting from P19, produced one of the most memorable performances of his 239-race F1 career. Holding off late pressure from Lewis Hamilton, he brought home a historic third-place finish for Kick Sauber, finally reaching the podium after more than a decade in the sport.
